Consider Your Destiny (Leaders Edition)

How do leaders make good decisions?

Life’s big doors swing on the hinges of our daily decisions.
It is so important to give careful consideration to how we make our decisions and lead.

The world teaches a lot about Time Thieves.
But more than time thieves - we need to be aware of Destiny Thieves.

Lamentations 1:9 (NKJV) says –

she did not consider her destiny, so her collapse was awesome…

Leadership Principle #1: Don't trade God's timeline for your deadline.

Never step out of your destiny.

I love Psalm 32:8

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will guide you with My eye.

God has got you!
He wants to guide you to stay on track for His purpose.

But verse 9 gives us wisdom in how to walk in step with God. Psalm 32:9 says -

Do not be like the horse or like the mule,
Which have no understanding,
Which must be harnessed with bit and bridle,
Else they will not come near you.

Don't run ahead like a senseless horse.
But don't lag behind like the mule too!

We need to be sensitive to God’s timing for our lives.

I have heard people say this:
“In 3 years’ time, my church must grow to the thousands”
“My business must hit a million dollars in revenue by next year”

Having vision is good. Setting goals is good.
But if it is done to impress or compete; if it is robbing you of your peace and joy …
That is a sign that you have started to trade God’s timeline for your own anxious deadline.

So walk in tandem with God. There is a blessing in waiting!

Leadership Principle #2: While we are into microwaving, God is into marinating.

As leaders, we are the “make it happen” people.
We are not very good at waiting sometimes.
We want God to move instantly but God wants us to wait patiently.
Just because it is a season of waiting doesn’t mean God has stopped working totally.
Ecclesiastes 3 encourages us that there is a time and season for everything.

How do you wait well?

Maybe some of you are in a time of waiting.

You are waiting for growth in your ministry.
Young people can’t wait to be finished with the pressuring school years.
Maybe you are waiting for a marriage to happen.
You are waiting to conceive.
Or you have been believing for a job or a promotion.

One last encouragement -
God doesn’t keep the best FROM you
God keeps the best FOR you

Isaiah 60:22 (NCV)

I am the Lord, and when it is time, I will make those things happen quickly

In every season of your life - ask yourself - “Am I walking in tandem with God’s plan for my life?”
Walk according to God’s divine timetable.
Don't step out of your destiny!
